NSGSARA WEB SITE Emergency Management Office of Nova Scotia EMO / NS Founded in 1971, as the Emergency Measures Organization, EMO/NS, now known as the Emergency Management Office co-ordinates the use of provincial resources in support of land, marine and air SAR services. In an emergency search, EMO/NS determines the availability of support and acts as a direct liaison between the responsible authorities and SAR service providers. In addition to its work with the RCMP and the NSGSARA, EMO/NS assists federal air and marine SAR operations on request by the Rescue Co-ordination Centre (RCC) in Halifax. The individual Nova Scotia GSAR teams operate under the umbrella of and have official status with, the EMO/NS.  The EMO/NS divides the province into four operational zones; Western, Central, Eastern, and the new zone South Shore.
