DONATIONS

If you came to this page intentionally, thank you for considering donating to Ground Search And Rescue in Nova Scotia.

We understand there are a lot of very worthwhile organizations all looking for your support. We would like you to know why you should consider us. If you have read the other pages on this site you know that Nova Scotia Ground Search And Rescue Association (NSGSARA) is 100% volunteer.

Although teams are reimbursed for Search Expenses, using an invoicing system, through EMO (NS)... The  purchase of team equipment; buildings, vehicles, radios and other team equipment must be raised by the teams.  Individual team members must also provide their own personal search gear.

Where possible courses are obtained for free or at cost for members, but costs can still add to team and individual expenses.

Some of the expenses are for:

  • Mobile Command Posts

    • Licensing and Registration
    • Insurance
    •  Repairs
  • Radio Communications Equipment
    • Purchase and Licensing
    • Spare radio batteries
  • Gasoline Generators

There is also the personal gear:
From compasses, safety glasses, flashlights, rain gear, backpacks, whistles, etc., that the individual searcher requires.

Our Searcher have to spent a considerable amount of their free time, from the volunteer time they have available, raising money, instead of training and practicing.

So, we have a group of volunteer professionals. They are your friends and neighbors. They give of their free time in order to train and fundraise to train and equip themselves. Often they give up days off, vacation time and even paid work days to take part in searches. During SwissAir 111 in 1998, there were search team members who used their 1998 and 1999 vacation time in order to help, with no thought of compensation. Whether it is a walk-away from a nursing home, a lost child, a hunter, a hiker...It doesn't matter, our volunteer professionals will be there.

If you wish to assist us in our work, please send a cheque or money order to the address below.

We are a registered nonprofit organization and will issue tax receipts for all donations.
